No Plugin Volume Output

Article applies to:
  • Sibelius 5, 6, 7

Description

Sibelius's meters and the plugin interface indicate MIDI data is being sent and received but there is no audio output.

Solution

Check first that the correct audio interface or sound card is selected in "Playback Devices > Audio Engine Options" and that, if applicable, an appropriate driver is selected. In particular, on Windows, some plugins may require an ASIO driver.

If your sound set requires sounds be loaded manually, check each plugin instance to be sure that the sounds are assigned to the appropriate channels as defined in the manual sound set.

Finally, check that the plugins output is set to an appropriate level by opening the Sibelius Mixer, selecting the "VI" button and scrolling down (Sibelius 5 and 6) or the right (Sibelius 7) and verifying the green plugin channel strips are set appropriately.

This is especially useful if you are using a playback configuration that came with your sound set package as these will occasionally, for no apparent reason, ignore the plugin(s) output level in the file when selected the first time and set levels that are inaudible.
