Upgrading Sibelius Version

Article applies to:
  • Sibelius 5, 6, 7

Description

Moving playback settings from one Sibelius version to another.

Solution

Sound sets, House Styles, and playback configurations can be easily migrated from one version of Sibelius to another. In the Sibelius User Settings directory (paths given below) for the newer version, create a "Sounds" and "House Styles" folder as you did when you installed the sound set initially. The "Playback Configurations" folder should already be present in the new location.

Now, simply copy the files you wish to move from their current folder to the corresponding folder in the new Sibelius User Settings Directory; "Sounds" to "Sounds" and "Playback Configurations" to "Playback Configurations". The House Style file(s) should be installed from the sound set package because these files are version-specific.

The Sibelius User Settings Directory location is as follows:

Sibelius 5 / Sibelius 6 (Where "x" is the version number, 5 or 6)

Mac OS X:
Users/username/Library/Application Support/Sibelius Software/Sibelius [x]/

Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Sibelius Software\Sibelius [x]\

Windows Vista / Windows 7:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Sibelius Software\Sibelius [x]\

Sibelius 7

Mac OS X:
Users/username/Library/Application Support/Avid/Sibelius 7/

Windows Vista / Windows 7:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Avid\Sibelius 7\
