Using jBridge Sibelius 32-bit

Article applies to:
  • Sibelius 5, 6, 7
  • Windows Vista, Windows 7 64-bit

Description

Configuring jBridge to make 64-bit plugins available in Sibelius 32-bit.

Solution

We recommend setting up jBridge as follows in order to maintain an organized file structure between bridged and non-bridged plugins. While it's not a requirement to create these folders or structure things this way, we have found that it helps users avoid other issues and keep everything running smoothly.

The Sibelius VSTPlugin folder as referenced below is the folder located in the following locations:

Sibelius 5 / Sibelius 6

C:\Program Files (x86)\Sibelius Software\VSTPlugins\

Sibelius 7

C:\Program Files (x86)\Avid\VSTPlugins\

(1) With Sibelius closed, remove any 32-bit plugin files you intend to replace with bridged 64-bit plugins from the Sibelius VSTPlugins folder.

(2) Create a new folder to hold the "source" files - those that are to be bridged. We suggest a folder such as C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins jBridged\

(3) Copy all 64-bit plugins you wish to bridge to the folder create in Number 2.

(4) In the Sibelius VSTPlugins folder, create a subfolder named "jBridged".

(5) Run the jBridger application and when prompted, select "I'm using a 32bit (x86) host".

(6) When asked for the plugin to be bridged, select the folder created in Number 2.

(7) Finally, when asked where to place the bridged files, select the "jBridged" folder you created in the Sibelius VSTPlugins folder.

(8) When jBridge finishes running you will see a message indicated the actions were completed successfully.

After starting Sibelius and opening the "Playback Devices" dialog, the "Available Devices" list will indicate which plugins have been bridged by adjusting their names in the format "'Plugin Name' [jBridge]".
